Why KUBO

Real coding, made for real classrooms

A coding language children hold in their hands: deep enough for real computer science, simple enough for age 4.

What KUBO brings to your classroom

The TagTile® language turns code into physical puzzle pieces, and that one idea carries everything else.

A coding language you can hold

Physical TagTiles® are the program. Students snap them together like a puzzle and KUBO runs the code: no app, no typing, no screen.

Real computer science

Routes, functions, loops, subroutines, variables, conditions and events: a genuine CS progression, not just forward-and-back.

Ready on day one

“Up and going the day the boxes arrived.” No coding experience needed, with free onboarding and teacher training included.

Standards-aligned curriculum

Ready-to-teach lessons aligned with ISTE & CSTA (plus NGSS, Common Core and TEKS for US schools), free on KUBO Portal.

Grows from age 4 to 10+

One platform from the first route to advanced concepts: Starter → Coding+ → Coding++ → Math & Music.

Reaches across the curriculum

The same robot teaches math, music, stories and geography, so coding time multiplies instead of competing.

Why it works

KUBO was the world's first puzzle-based coding robot, and a decade on, the approach has spread around the world.

In teachers' words

“When I saw KUBO I thought it would be easy to use, but I didn't think it would be soooo easy to use! I was up and going the day the boxes arrived. No lengthy training or tutorial needed. We got to the cool stuff right away!”
Dana Cochrane Teacher, Stillwell Grade School, United States
“KUBO is very intuitive. Students can just get started. I don't have to give complex instructions because with KUBO, kids can figure things out for themselves!”
Rikke Lohman Educator, Kroggårdsskolen, Denmark
“One of the things we like about KUBO is that it's not only teaching coding at its most basic level to our youngest children. It can also be integrated into our math and story lessons.”
Roy Coleman Headteacher, Nightingale Primary School, United Kingdom

Designed for every learner

Screens, reading and prior experience are the usual barriers to coding in K-5. KUBO removes all three, so the whole class can take part.

No reading required

TagTiles® are symbols, not sentences. Pre-readers code from age 4, and the language works the same in every classroom language, including for multilingual learners.

Learning you can touch

Tactile and kinesthetic learners build code with their hands instead of watching a screen. Abstract ideas become physical objects every child can pick up.

How learning styles differ

Coding as a team sport

Students gather around one robot and solve problems together: talking, taking turns and helping each other. Social-emotional skills grow alongside the coding.

Every pace welcome

Start with a two-tile route, or nest functions inside loops. The same set stretches from first steps to advanced challenges, so nobody is left out or held back.

And when classrooms go blended, KUBO Play adds 1:1 practice at each student's own pace, at school or at home. Accessibility is first-class: WCAG 2.2 AA is the target across our digital tools.

How KUBO compares

Every other classroom robot makes you choose between screen-free and real coding. KUBO doesn't.

Every other classroom robot forces a trade-off. KUBO is the only one that's both screen-free and real computer science.

vs. basic robots: they stop at sequences and kids outgrow them by age 6; KUBO keeps going into real CS.

vs. app robots: they need a tablet for every student; KUBO gives the same depth, in their hands, no screens.
