Frequently asked questions
What ages is KUBO for?
KUBO is designed for ages 4–10+ (K-5). The progression goes from a child's first command up to advanced computer-science concepts.
Do students need a screen or device?
No. KUBO Hands-on is completely screen-free: students code by snapping physical TagTiles® together. KUBO Play is the optional on-screen companion for 1:1 practice.
Do I buy KUBO or subscribe?
Hardware (the Coding sets) is a one-time purchase through your local partner. KUBO Play software is a subscription, with a free 30-day trial.
How much does KUBO cost?
List prices in USD: the Coding Starter Set from $235, add-on sets (Coding+, Coding++, Math) from $73 each. KUBO Play is from $299/year for a classroom and from $599/year for a school, with multi-year discounts. Final pricing, local currency and volume discounts come from your local partner.
Do I need the KUBO robot to use KUBO Play?
No. KUBO Play is a digital simulation of KUBO in a gamified universe. It runs on a device with no physical robot required, so students can practise from school or home at a lower cost. The hands-on Coding sets are the ones built around the physical KUBO robot.
What's in the Starter Set?
A KUBO robot, an activity map, 46 TagTiles®, a USB charging cable, and access to the standards-aligned curriculum on KUBO Portal.
Is the curriculum really free?
Yes. The standards-aligned curriculum, lesson plans and resources are free on KUBO Portal when you create an account.
How is student data handled?
KUBO is built with student-data privacy in mind (GDPR/COPPA). See our privacy statements for the details that apply in your region.
What warranty applies?
Your KUBO hardware is covered by a standard manufacturer's warranty. Contact your partner or our support team for the terms that apply in your country.
Do I need coding experience to teach with KUBO?
No. The ready-to-teach curriculum and Quick Start Guides mean any educator can lead a lesson from day one.
