The KUBO Coding Music Set turns KUBO into a screen-free musical instrument. Students snap Note TagTiles® together and place KUBO on the sequence. The robot plays each note, lights up in its colour and rolls one step forward, so children can hear, see and touch the code they build.
Code music like a musician
- Melody: seven colour-coded Note tiles from C to B become scales, tunes and songs, with Octave tiles to shift the range up or down.
- Rhythm: Note Length tiles (1/2 to 1/16) and Pause tiles shape the beat, and the Tempo Picker keeps time like a metronome with four presets from 80 to 140 BPM.
- Instruments: the Music Picker switches KUBO between three melodic instruments and a percussion kit, where the Note tiles become kick, snare, hi-hat, tambourine, bongo, cowbell and even a frog, so students can program their own rhythm box.
- Record & play: wrap a sequence in Function tiles and KUBO records it as it drives across; place it on the Play tile and it performs the whole song. With several robots, one can play the melody while another keeps the rhythm.
The included activity booklet takes K–5 classes through 13 ready-to-use tasks, from finding and testing the notes, to playing “The ABC Song”, “The Wheels on the Bus” and “Brother John”, to composing, recording and writing down songs of their own.
